Still have sentimental attachment to my car.... 20 January 2010

I still don't believe that I survived that horrific accident, through God's grace. I must say that I still miss my car. I still have strong sentimental attachment to that car. I still check for old photos of my car....  My left knee is slowly healing, and hoping for speedy recovery... I am still out of action...

God's Mercy upon me - 11:05 a.m. on 23 Dec 2009

I had planned to keep my car for the next 10 to 20 years (or reach 1 million km), but on the 23 Dec 2009, at 11:05 a.m. I almost lost my life in a terrible car accident, but the Lord had other plans for me.

The safety belt & the airbag contributed to my safety. I thank Him for giving me yet another opportunity to seek & serve Him and others. "Thank you Jesus for saving my life, and also for giving me yet another a song of praise to sing."

Yes, I suffered left knee fracture & torn ligaments which require surgery (and I don't complain). I have an appointment of Tuesday, 29 Dec 2009 with my orthopedic doctor for surgery to reconstruct/mend my ligaments. Once more, I'm deeply thankful to God for deciding to keep me in order to accomplish His purpose. I just need to figure out what His plan entails so that I can obey and follow Him.

First Registration of my My Car - 22 April 2007

My car was first registered on 15 October 1998 in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal Province, in South Africa (ND 363772), and the second registration in the new owner in Mafikeng, North West Province (DMR762NW), and then my sister, Tselane, and I am the new owner since May 2004.

I have enjoyed a good service this far from this car, and the only major repairs occured in 2005 when I had to replace an electronic component which cost me about R4,500. So far, for a 1998 car, I think I am still enjoying comfort and power from my car.

The beginning of a journey with my car (Mercedes-Benz) May 2004

I can rember very well that it was in May 2004 when my sister (Tselane) decided to buy a new car (Jeep 4-by-4, 2004 Model) and she did not want to sell her car (Dark Green, Mercedes-Benz, Classic, Automatic, C200, 1998 Model).

She decided to give it to me so that I can pay the remaining balance on the car, and the idea was very much apealing to me.

To cut a long story short, I decided to accept an offer. The mileage on the car, when I received the car from my sister, was 169,000 km (May 2004). Today, 22 April 2007, the mileage stands at 261,647 km. My colleague drives a White 1996 Mercedes-Benz, and he told me that his mileage stands at little over 600,000 km and the car still runs faithfully.

I also have another colleague who drives a 1984 Mercedes-Benz, and he was telling me that he now needs to think seriously about overhauling his engine because this car is beginning to show some signs of needing attention. Nevertheless, his car is still in good condition.
My main aim is to keep track of my car. I am planning to keep it for the next 10-20 years, and if possible, my goal is to reach a million km. I hope I will not need to suffer if I a need to replace some parts.
